I found something that makes scooping out the inside of a pumpkin a BREEZE. Use a metal ice cream scoop. They are sharp and just the right shape for scooping. It worked great.
And Morgan carved the cat pumpkin all by himself. He picked out the pattern and punched it out and then cut it out. I was pretty impressed. I don't think I would have been able to do that when I was 10.
I found out that once they are carved, pumpkins have a very short and unstable shelf life in a warm house. On Mine ( it's the one that says Casey) The words caved in by the very next morning. And Morgan left the lid on his which grew black mold and lots of it after only 2 days.

We get black widows all the time in the summer here, but so far none in the house. Thank goodness. Yucky, yucky, yucky!
Hi Jana,
Great job on those pumpkins. Your's put ours to shame. I love the idea of using an ice cream scoop. That's brilliant. Thanks for sharing. I'll try that next year for sure! Cute boys you've got!
Oh... and yes, our haunted castle was a kit. I wish I had made it from scratch... that would've rocked!
Awesome Pumpkins!! It's so fun to keep in touch with you this way.
